What is ChiroThin and how does it work?
The ChiroThin nutritional support formula, by ChiroNutraceutical, is a natural dietary supplement that has been purposefully designed to go hand-in-hand with the doctor-supervised ChiroThin Weight Loss Program. It contains a host of nutritional ingredients that are well known to aid in fatty acid transportation, fatty acid metabolism, blood sugar stabilization, increase in metabolism, and detoxification. When combined with healthy and specific amounts and blends of low glycemic, anti-inflammatory foods, your body will be more efficient at converting stored fat into energy.

Will my metabolism slow down if I am on a very low-calorie diet?
It is true that when dramatically cutting back on calories, our body stores fat, and our metabolism slows down. This is called “starvation mode" or "adaptive thermogenesis." “Starvation Mode” occurs because the body attempts to store the most calorie-dense material, which happens to be fat (9cal/gm).
When particular dietary/behavioral changes are used in conjunction with the ChiroThin nutritional support formula, the body will more easily perform the process of fatty acid transportation and metabolism. This will aid your body in mobilizing and utilizing fat necessary calories that are needed. The ChiroThin nutritional support formula, when combined with professional supervision and a specific blend of low glycemic, anti-inflammatory foods, will help to keep the body from going into starvation mode by allowing fat to be more easily burned to make up the caloric deficit.
Wouldn't I lose the same weight by eating a very low calorie diet?
While a person will lose weight while on a VLCD without the additional nutritional support provided by the ChiroThin formula, it is not probable that the weight loss would be as great for a few reasons. The body will likely rapidly go into “starvation mode." Starvation mode is a protective function of the human body.
When an individual consumes fewer calories than they consume over a prolonged period, the human body will slow down the metabolism, start burning muscle for energy and attempt to store any fat consumed. This is extremely unhealthy and will only cause a massive rebound in weight gain when the VLCD is discontinued. While using the ChiroThin formula, your weight loss will predominantly be fat loss.
Additionally, an individual should never attempt a VLCD without professional supervision. By using the ChiroThin Weight Loss Program as directed, combined with a specific blend and portion of low glycemic, anti-inflammatory foods, the body will be more effective at fatty acid transportation and fatty acid metabolism. Not to mention the assistance with cravings and appetite control.
Will I get hungry?
While it is common to feel mild hunger during the first few days, this sensation usually stops after 4-6 days. Most people will be ready to eat when mealtime comes, but many don't feel hungry even when it's time to eat. If hunger continues beyond a week, which is not typical, we have alternative ways to assist you with your thoughts of food. But physically, you should not feel the need for additional food.
You will find your servings satisfying by the end of the first week. This is because ChiroThin’s proprietary formula is specifically blended with additional ingredients to stabilize blood sugar, natural hunger and craving suppressors. So even though you are taking in fewer calories, your body is being given the substances it needs to access the energy you have stored in fat cells.
Additionally, drinking half your body weight in ounces of water daily will act as an extra hunger suppressant and help keep your energy levels high. As a “rule of thumb” the average person on ChiroThin has plenty of energy and feels good while on the program. Will ChiroThin interfere with any medications I am currently taking? What about birth control pills or Depo-Provera injections?
The ingredients and dosages contained within the ChiroThin nutritional support formula have not been shown to interact with any medications, including birth control pills or Depo-Provera. Even though there are currently no clinically proven side effects to ChiroThin, as with any diet, we recommend consulting with your doctor to ensure the ChiroThin Weight Loss Program is appropriate for you.
How much weight can I expect to lose?
While weight loss will vary by person, most people who adhere to the Doctor Supervised ChiroThin Weight Loss Program have lost between 20-35 pounds in six weeks. Everyone is different. It depends on many factors, including how much excess weight you have, how much weight needs to be lost, the health of your gut (we can help with that), and your adherence to the ChiroThin Weight Loss Program.
Does the weight loss slow down after the first two weeks?
There is often a large amount of weight loss in the first week, then a gradual slowing of weight loss. This does not mean that your weight loss has stopped. Typically, inches are being lost continuously while on the program, and after a period of time, patients will experience another large drop on the scale. Weight loss is thus achieved in this stair-step fashion.
Is the Diet Safe if I Have High Blood Pressure?
The diet usually helps lower your blood pressure. However, if you are on blood pressure meds and feel light-headed in the morning, you may need to have your medication adjusted by your primary care physician.
What Counts Toward my Water Intake?
Drink at least 80 oz of water per day or half your body weight in ounces. You can add a teaspoon of lemon or lime juice, a lemon or lime wedge, stevia, carbonation, or herbal caffeine-free teas and these zero-calorie drinks will also count towards your recommended water intake.
Do I only have to put Balsalmic Vinegar on my Salad?
Walden Farms Salad Dressing or any sugar-free and oil-free dressing without calories can be used. You'll be given a recipe book with other salad dressing options at the start of your program. A small amount of Xanthum gum can be added to thicken the dressing. You'll be surprised at how delicious some of the dressings will be without oil.
Which Vegetables are Considered Free?
Vegetables that are considered free are lettuce, cabbage, cucumber, peppers, red onion, celery, and tomato. There are some others that we will provide you with as well. Any other vegetables are counted towards the normal 4 ounces of vegetables you should be consuming per meal. Stick with the vegetable list in the program guide and food journal. Starchy vegetables like potatoes are not allowed on the program. Also, understand that tomatoes are only partially free, so don't abuse tomatoes by having them in every meal.
What About Beans, Can They Be Eaten as a Protein?
No. They have too many carbohydrates. No beans are allowed except for green beans during the 40 days of your losing phase.
Can I Eat and Bread?
Bread carbohydrates should be no more than 60 calories per meal, which would be 1/2 of a "Lite Flatout", 2 pieces of Melba toast, 5 Melba toast snacks, or 1 Grissini bread stick.
What Types of Seafood Can I Eat?
Salmon and tuna steaks are prohibited while on the plan due to the high fat concentration. Canned tuna packed in water is allowed. Ultimately, you want to ensure that your protein is 93% fat-free, so crab legs, shrimp, lobster, and most fish are acceptable.
What Other Proteins Can I Eat?
All of your proteins should include no more than 7% fat. So even 93% fat-free lunch meat is allowed. Basically, stick with lean pork, chicken, turkey, and even beef as long as it's lean at 93% fat-free.
Can I Continue to Take my Supplements?
Yes. However, none with oil, such as any of the Omegas. Fish oil, as well as seed oil, is not to be taken to maximize results. It is best to have your weight loss consultant or doctor at Gallagher Chiropractic and Wellness look at any supplements you take to ensure that it doesn't negatively affect the program.
Is it OK to Skip a Meal or Protein at One of my Meals?
NO!!!!!!!!!!!! Never skip any of your meals. It's important to eat all of your allotted food. You must consume full 4-ounce portions of protein. Additionally, do not move food portions from one meal to the next.
What Other than Water Can I Drink?
Alcohol and soda sweetened with sugar, saccharin, or aspartame, are not allowed on the program. You should avoid diet sodas and crystal light because of the artificial sweetener used. Ideally, drink herbal teas without calories or caffeine. If you must add zero-calorie sweeteners, Stevia is recommended. A few other drinks include Propel Zero, Skinny Water, and Stur. Zero-calorie drinks with caffeine can be consumed, however, they don't count toward your water intake.
Can I eat eggs?
Egg yolks are not allowed on the program. Egg white can be eaten as a protein and you can have 6 ounces instead of 4 ounces. This is the amount of ounces it weighs, versus fluid ounces.
Can I Drink Coffee?
It's best for you to eliminate caffeine as it is a diuretic. But if you decide to do so, please do so in moderation. Your body will use caffeine for energy instead of your fat. Decaffeinated coffee is okay. Dairy-based coffee creamer and flavorings containing calories are prohibited while on the ChiroThin losing phase. Zero-calorie creamer and flavorings are allowed.
Should I Lose Weight Every Day?
Not necessarily. Your body will hold water later used to help flush out fat. So although you probably are losing fat every day, you may not notice it on the scale because of the differences in water retention. However, If you stay the same weight for 3 consecutive days, you will likely be given instructions to change your diet plan for a day or two. We will provide you with instructions on how to get over that stall.
Can I Exercise Daily?
While on the ChiroThin program, we only recommend light exercise if you desire. 20 minutes of low-intensity walking is acceptable. Ultimately, unless you are participating in our red-light therapy that releases fat from the fat cells, we don't want you to get your heart rate over zone 2, which is 70% of your maximum heart rate, because fat isn't released from the cells fast enough to sustain this level of energy expenditure.
If you currently exercise and don't want to give up your routine, discuss it with your weight loss consultant and they will instruct you as to how to manage this within our program.
