Week 1 – Day 1

This is your first loading day. Why load?

You need to build up a store of easily accessible fats in your system to make your first few days on the VLCD (very low calorie diet) easier, and to prepare your body properly for success on the diet.

The transition to the diet is very important. We don't want your body to go into starvation mode and protect the fat instead of releasing it for energy.

Loading with low carbohydrates, and higher fat content will not only make your first days on the VLCD much more easy as you won’t be having a sudden drop in carbs to your system that would could easily cause intense sensations of hunger, low blood sugar, and cravings; but it also increases liptin production, a protein produced by fat cells that is a hormone acting mainly in the regulation of appetite and fat storage.

Temporarily upping calorie intake can re-up leptin production by nearly 30 percent . It's that quick leptin buzz that's responsible for boosting metabolism after overeating. And in addition to regulating hunger and metabolism, this hormone may contribute to increased motivation.

It's like the magic diet pill that you take at the beginning of your diet. We are using the natural instincts of the body to trick it into doing what we want it to do....release fat!

Nuts are my go to food for healthy fat. Grazying on nuts all day alone could result in the desired effect.

Since I am a weight loss consultant and health lifestyle coach as well as a having a few other wellness certifications, and am the program manager at Ballantyne Weight Loss Center, I thought I'd participate in the ChiroThin program so I understand the journey of our patients. Not to mention that I could use to lose about 10-15 pounds.

I started the program Saturday on January 11, 2019. Also, I invite any of our patients to comment on the appropriate day/time frame post of this blog as to your experience if you had anything different or if you are feeling the same as I.

To give you a little background, I have Crohn's disease, and manage it without medication, and have a very restricted diet, so meeting the calorie goal during the loading phase has been much more difficult than I inmagined. Also, in my 20's my highest weight was 213 pounds. I started this program with a normal BMI at just under 150 pounds. So I understand the life long struggle of losing weight.

So let's move to the topic of the Chirothin, doctor supervised, weight loss program offered at Ballantyne Weight Loss Center at Gallagher Chiropractic and Wellness in Charlotte. The program consists of a couple of loading days, which changes the hormonal balance in the body and the way the body eliminate excess fat in order to set you fat metabolism at a higher rate to take you into the beginning of the program.
